Cerebro’s purpose is to boost your productivity, to help you get things done as fast as possible. To achieve this goal, Cerebro puts several bits if functionality at your disposal. This application can perform Google searches, find and launch applications, find and preview files, translate text, perform calculations and conversions, present locations on a map, and more.

Cerebro is available for all three major desktop operating systems: Windows, Mac and Linux. Please note that Cerebro is available for 64-bit Windows editions only. So if you’re running a 32-bit Windows edition on your PC, you won’t be able to run Cerebro. Sorry about that! Perhaps you’ll use this as an opportunity to upgrade your PC to a 64-bit Windows edition.

While Cerebro is running, you will see its icon in the system tray. Left click the icon to open the Preferences menu, access the Plugins menu, and Toggle Cerebro. When you select Toggle Cerebro, a search box appears onscreen; it is from this search box that you can access everything that Cerebro can do. It’s worth pointing out that you can Toggle Cerebro with a hotkey: Ctrl + Space.

Cerebro features several core plugins that allow it to search the web, find and launch applications, perform calculations and conversions, display the map, access websites, and so on. Alongside these core plugins, a whole bunch of custom plugins are available. There’s a plugin that helps you find movie info on IMDb, a plugin that finds GIFs, a plugin that kills processes by name, a plugins that displays your local and external IP addresses, and more. The bottom line is that you can expand what Cerebro can do with a plugin.

Cerebro is free and open source software. If you like it, make a donation to help the project.

Cerebro does plenty of useful things right out of the box: searches the web, performs calculations and conversions, launches applications, and so on. And by accessing a nice collection of custom plugins, you can add even more features to the list.

Pros

Cerebro is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Installing Cerebro on a Windows PC is an effortless task. Cerebro has a good looking and customizable interface that you can bring up by using a hotkey. Cerebro can perform several tasks: Google search, launch application, open website, display map, calculator, converter. By installing a plugin, you can get Cerebro to do even more. Cerebro is free and open source (donations are welcome).

Cons

Available for 64-bit Windows only.
